The Rising Virtuoso
Experience burgeoning virtuosity when the Charlotte Civic Orchestra proudly presents Nathan Meltzer, teenage violin prodigy, in performances of Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 35 (movement 3) and Bruch’s Scottish Fantasy for Violin and Orchestra. Fifteen-year-old Nathan Meltzer began his music studies in a second-grade orchestra class in Austria. At age 11, he joined the “Violin Virtuosi” at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music; at age 13, he entered the Perlman Music Program. Nathan has performed in Buenos Aires, Quebec, São Paulo, Tel Aviv, Vienna, and across the U.S., including solo engagements with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Evansville Philharmonic, and the Bloomington and Muncie Symphony orchestras. Later this fall, Nathan solos with the Pittsburgh Symphony and returns to NPR’s From the Top for a duo with Mark O’Connor and a Beethoven sonata with Christopher O’Riley. Now a high-school sophomore in New York City, Nathan studies at Juilliard with Itzhak Perlman and Li Lin.
The Charlotte Civic will also perform Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 in e minor.
